BYOB Decenter - New York City

image

On April 7, for the closing of the (physical) exhibition - Decenter: An exhibition on the centenary of the 1913 Armory Show at Henry Street Settlement’s Abrons Arts Center, we’re organizing a BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) event.

We thought the BYOB would be a great way to unify both the gallery and digital components of the exhibition.

Our venue is Henry Street Settlement’s historic Harry De Jur Playhouse, constructed between 1912 and 1915. It is located at 466 Grand Street.
Our BYOB event will have a group of artists from the digital portion of the Decenter exhibition, but is also open to anyone else who might be interested in celebrating as we close out our show. The closing event will be Sunday April 7th from 4-6 pm. Refreshments will be served.
BYOB Decenter will feature, among others:

Katie Torn
Rose Schlossberg
Joshua Citarella
Ethan Greenbaum
Michael Delucia
Nick DeMarco
Stephanie Norberg
Philip Tomaru
Rolf-Tonio von Eckartsberg
Michael Mallis
Travis Hallenbeck
Ivana Basic
Please let us know (info@decenterarmory.com) if you’d like to join!

The White Building is London’s new cultural venue focusing on innovation and creative practice at the intersection of art, technology and ecology.

Bring Your Own Beamer was successfully held in Norrköping on 8th of February.

Norrköpings is the 10th biggest city in Sweden, located 160 km south of the capital Stockholm.

The event got a lot of publicity in the local and regional newspapers.  Also, the regional radio did an interview with the curators Yvonne Olofsson and Moa Hannerz Simå about BYOB.

It was a appreciated and fun evening of beamers, live video and DJ’s with 11 contributors from the region  as well as from other parts in Sweden and Los Angeles.

A lot of people came up to us and asked when the next BYOB will be held in Norrköping!
